let’s get together
i’ve been wrestling lately.
four years have gone by since the kitchen table beginnings of dwell management and we’ve settled into a groove. we’ve learned some of what works yet we are still learning as we go along. we continually challenge ourselves to put our time and money where our mouth is.
from the beginning we vowed to be different. sometimes those differences have huge impact; other times they are subtle. the challenge is to stay committed to being different where different matters.
we’ve learned that being different for the sake of different isn’t the priority.
making a difference is the priority.
i’ve been asking myself, what do i want to see change? what’s the next area that i want to see growth within myself, our company and the field of property management?
in the recent weeks, it’s become clear just how booming property management really is within our city and i’ve got an itch to connect. an itch to help others. an itch to take on an open source mentality within my field.
property managers are generally a tight lipped crew when we get around each other. each of us have our own little fears of what someone will think of the way we do things or our policies and god forbid a policy that’s outdated and might even need adjustment to be appropriate for a new law. but truth is we need to connect and quit trying to fly solo.
for this to work, i think it’s imperative that we put aside our judgments of each other and come to the table for the purpose of sharpening one another and brainstorming ways to get better both within our direct sphere of influence in our day to day work but also to promote change on a greater level.
i know of some incredibly bright folks in our industry that could have great impact if given a platform to do so. i also know that there are times an owner isn’t a great fit for what we do or a tenant is looking for something we don’t have and by golly it would be nice to have a great group of people at my fingertips to send folks to.
so i’m putting my feelers out…
i’m looking for property managers who desire to connect with other like-minded professionals. you want to see growth within your own office but also find yourself thinking about the greater whole. you might own your own company or work for one but your dedication to being the best and getting better with each passing year keeps you inspired. you might be a little scared about sharing your hard earned secrets but also see the value in hearing other secrets you hadn’t thought of yet. you desire a platform to talk about your questions about law or accounting or advertising without fear of getting something wrong. you hope to engage in a group that focuses on the positives of property management and the change that we can bring to our industry and our city.
if you find yourself resonating with a great majority of these thoughts then we’d love for you to contact us about joining our group!
i think we’ll see great dividends from coming together and learning from one another!
